ABOUT US

The Power And Clean Energy (PACE) research group was founded in January 2015 by Professors Tyrone Fernando, Kit Po Wong and Herbert Iu, in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (EECE), University of Western Australia. In PACE, our researchers carry out theoretical and experimental investigations on power system stability enhancement strategies, renewable energy conversion system studies, smart grid observation and control schemes, power electronics device application and performance improvement methods, and power transmission and distribution optimization schemes, to name a few. Investigation into these areas is crucial in modernizing existing power grids and integrating renewable energy sources to established power systems. These subjects are initiated by the School of EECE in response to the contemporary energy crisis and the increased needs of renewable energy sources.

PACE now has 20 official members and 6 adjunct members. Among them, Professor Tyrone Fernando, one of the founders, has exceptional knowledge and insight in the field of electrical power systems and has been leading PACE towards the future of renewable energy and the modernized power system. Professor Herbert Iu, one of the founders, has dedicated more than 2 decades in the study of power electronics and guides the PACE research group in the realm of electronics. Professor Kit Po Wong, IEEE fellow and advisor of PACE, has more than 40 years’ teaching and research experience in the field of power systems, and actively offers counsel to PACE. The rest of the official members are constituted by PhD students who have formed positive collaborative relationships and are devoted to advancing research in their particular fields. Adjunct members are comprised of visiting students and visiting professors who readily share their knowledge and expertise in their respective fields to assist in achieving the goals of PACE.

All together, we PACE TOWARDS A CLEAN ENERGY FUTURE
